My wife was admitted to the ER. The challenge was a kidney stone that had caused inflammation, infection, and sepsis throughout her entire circulatory system. Sepsis, also known as acidosis, had caused her vital organs to shut down and my wife was at death's door. Upon arrival to the ER, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, a diagnosis was made and she was sent to the OR for installation of a stent to drain her bladder and move the stone blocking her ureter. The procedure took about 40 minutes. Once she came out of the OR she went directly to the ICU where she was admitted by RN Lindsey. That night my wife's vital signs were very bad in all areas. She was unable to maintain her blood pressure, her respirations, and her heartbeat was poor. Lindsey worked not only hard but very intelligently to read, diagnose, and react to multiple failing life-critical systems that had all been traumatized by the high level of acid in her bloodstream. I was allowed to remain in the ICU that entire night and I personally watched while this nurse took extreme measures to fight the shutdown of her vital systems and return my wife to a level of function in her body that would sustain her life.
Lindsey's actions that evening saved my wife's life. While it is true that the entire team at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center did everything possible to save my wife, Lindsey's work that Sunday evening was a key element in the positive outcome and lifesaving events of that evening.
Based on these factors, and the fact that my wife has several Immune System challenges with her health, it is clear to me that the decisions made, and actions taken, that evening by RN Lindsey, should be recognized as being at the highest level of competency. Also, she was instrumental in providing the necessary life staining support required for my wife that night.
I, therefore, want to personally thank Lindsey for the skillful application of her knowledge and dedication to her profession. This resulted in a successful outcome and the return of my wife to her family and the opportunity for her to enjoy many more productive years.
