Lindsay had developed a very strong connection with very young parents of a newborn with complex CHD. During his most recent admission, their son had been through some extraordinary challenges, and soon his life was no longer sustainable. Lindsay became a very trusting adult to the mother who was being faced with the impending death of her son. She was a strong advocate for the patient, openly speaking out the truth as to what was physically happening to this baby.
Sometimes we are not blessed with the miracle we are praying for, yet we are blessed with other miracles. For the mother and her son, Lindsay was their miracle. Her care was so rich with love, tenderness and the purest honesty one could hope for. Lindsay bridged the emotions and desires of these parents to allow their son to die peacefully in their arms. An angel hugged this entire family this day, her name was Lindsay.
This entire scenario was so beautiful and full of emotion to watch. It made me cry.
