Lilly has been in nursing at Tidelands for 2 years. She fulfills many roles, not only as an RN on 2 East, but a widowed mother of 1 son, 3 daughters, and who is very active in her church and in her community.
Lilly has committed her life to help others. She has done so in many capacities, as the wife of a pastor, foster parent, Special Needs Teacher, Mission Worker, Boy Scout Leader, Music Director, Daughter, and Friend. After a long teaching career, this individual felt the call to become a Nurse. Recently widowed, juggling motherhood, full-time teaching, and her church responsibilities, she started school on a quest to become an RN. The rest is history. Lilly experienced 2 East during her clinicals at HGTC. We all knew right away that she was an awesome fit for our team, and we have not been disappointed.
Each time Lilly arrives on shift, she comes with energy, zest, a quick wit, humor, but most of all an abiding faith. As we begin most of our shifts with Lilly, we all join hands as she leads us in prayer, for each of us, the patients, the doctor, and families. What a great way to start the day! We have watched as she returns to the Nurses Station her eyes welled up with tears having just experienced praying with a patient or a family, on more than one occasion. She is always willing with a smile and exuberance, even when the floor is busy, to jump in and assist on any and all occasions with her team. Her patients are handled with loving, competence, and skilled care. She has taken on nursing with the same passion that she demonstrated through her life's journey thus far.
Lilly takes time to listen to her patients and their families to encourage and educate them in whatever the need may be. Her quick wit and humorous side is endearing, which adds to her very capable bedside manner and to her coworkers.
