I have been ill with a rare disease known as Familia Adenonoous Polyposis (FAP). I am 54 years old and have been battling with this illness since I was 25. Over the years this illness has become more and more aggressive. I recently had to have surgery to have a permanent colostomy bag because of this condition. This is a major life change and yet again another battle. There are times when I just want to give up. My last hospital stay was surely one of those times. I was admitted in the emergency room for about three days and although I was cared for, I was unhappy. However, once I was on the floor in my room it all got so much better. Although all the staff treated me great, I have to say that I was super impressed with my nurse Lidya Grebekiden. I know I was on her mind every day. She took a personal interest in my healing process. She came in to work on her day off. She said she came to see me because she had an idea of something that she thought would make me more comfortable. She figured out a way to position the bandage on my wound so that it would not interfere with my colostomy. I have been a patient more times than I can count and never have I had a nurse who exemplified so much care about my healing, care, and comfort. I will never forget her and how she cared for me during a very difficult time. You should be honored to have her in your employ.
