Having only just turned 19 recently and a slightly nervous hospital goer, I wanted to thank Lenka due to her incredible reassurance and happy demeanor that made my first longer term experience in hospital the best it could be. Despite being a considerable age difference to those in my ward she never made me feel any different. Even though my injuries and post-operation recovery was minimal compared to other patients she was looking after, I felt I was treated equally and tenderly. I was acting brave, but staying in a ward just for a day was an unfamiliar experience and I left with incredible respect for the work that Lenka and the other nurses on the ward do. Lenka was an absolute rock throughout her 12 hour shift, not getting annoyed, irritated or even looking tired when she was looking after 9 demanding patients. Through my short stay, Lenka made special arrangements for my medicine to be taxied over from another hospital so I could leave and sleep in my own bed that night, which made all the difference. She went that extra mile to make my day so I could go home as quickly as possible. She could have waited until Monday for someone to be on shift and provide them to me, but she understood I would be more comfortable at home. The care Lenka provided me truly means a lot, and has reassured me as I wait for my next surgery to be arranged.
