Leigha went above and beyond showing the true heart and care of nursing when we had a husband/wife duo. The ICU patient was dying and Leigha not only cared for the wife exceptionally well, physically and emotionally, as well as she enabled the patient to go to the ICU to be at her husband's side. Leigha held her hand and comforted and cried with her. She displayed the essence of what nursing is all about, which sometimes gets lost in the hustle and bustle of the daily work. She most certainly deserves to be recognized with this award.

Leigha was break relief on night shift. At about midnight, Leigha brought a patient from another unit who was on a monitor and O2, over to ICU so the patient could be with her husband as he passed away. As soon as the wife came in the room the husband's heart rate started to decrease and she was able to hold his hand as he passed away. Leigha was so caring and compassionate, all the while with a smile on her face and an understanding voice. Leigha took the time to realize this was a very important moment that needed to happen for these two patients.
