My mom was brought by EMS from home with chest pain. After an emergent trip to the cath lab, where she received a stent, she was taken to 5B for recovery. This is where we met Leah. She was calm and comforting answering my sister and I's questions and educating all of us on what mom was "allowed" to do and not. All the while explaining the "why", making us all feel "at ease". When it was time for her medication she explained simply and confidently the new ones following up with written material for us to read later if we had any additional questions. My mom had some potential interactions with her previous medications and the routine blood thinning meds after a cath. Leah made us feel like it was no big deal that she had to call pharmacy, cardiology, and IMG to ensure everyone was in agreement with the plan. My mom had a concerned look when Leah was talking about the new meds; Leah noticed and said, "you look concerned." My mom is on a fixed income and was worried about how much these new meds were going to cost. Leah quickly reassured her knowing the lowest price and where to get it. When she didn't know the other, she contacted the social worker who called Mom and gave her a plan. Leah made us feel we were her only patient. She embodies every amazing quality of a nurse and then some. I am sure this is how Leah and her entire team treat every patient. I am proud to be an OH TM after the care my mom received from 5B and that we had Leah as her RN.
