Lea is a knowledgeable nurse who serves as a valuable resource to her colleagues. She is often in charge and is a clinical coach to new RNs. She is well liked and respected by her colleagues, patients, and physicians. Upon management rounds, she is often recognized for providing exceptional individualized care. On a daily basis, Lea puts 110% of her energy into her work. She collaborates on a daily basis with the social worker, case manager, the outcomes specialist, and physical therapy to assist in getting her patients discharged before noon. Lea is often seen wheeling her patients down to meet the pre-noon discharge. Being so pro-active with her discharges means that she will often get the first admit since she has an open bed. It has never slowed her down.
When she is in charge, she always knows what is going on with all the patients and helps everyone equally. She cares for her patients with such genuine compassion and empathy that at many times, she is seen sitting down with her patients assuring that they have the education and information they need. Lea is extremely organized and has exceptional multi-tasking skills. She arrives to work early, sometimes as much as an hour prior to the start of her shift so that she can sift through her patient's charts and be aware of lab results, medications, and orders prior to bedside shift report. She will pick up an extra shift at the drop of dime when staffing is short. It is not unheard of for Lea to pick up a night shift when needed.
