My family and I would like to send a sincere thanks to Lauren Schaeffer for supporting my mother after surgery. It was a stressful time for us after my mom came out of surgery and seeing her hooked up to the breathing tube with wires hooked up to her. She looked nothing like my mother. When she was out of surgery and I came in to visit with her, I met Lauren for the first time. I could tell that she genuinely cared about my mother and I could see it in her work with mom. Even though my mom could not speak at the time, she was able to communicate with a small simple nod. Lauren was at her side trying to comfort her or make her as comfortable as possible.
Four days later, after the tube was removed and my mother was breathing and speaking on her own, she kept saying "I remember the nurse who helped me. I want to see her. I want to say thank you." Luckily, Lauren happened to be working on the floor the next morning and she was able to speak to Lauren herself. We just want you to know that you have a wonderful nurse in Lauren and she should be recognized for all she does to support the patients she is assigned to. Please give her our heartfelt thanks.
