I would like to nominate Lauren Kauffman, RN from 3 Main as a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award. This registered nurse should receive the award for her clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service and for her continued commitment to excellence.

The following are specific examples of the nominees’ extraordinary commitment to patient-centered care:

There was an incident with a physician and Lauren made my hurt and embarassement turn to smiles and gratitude. I was so thankful she was my nurse during this little crisis. After the doctor left I felt like crying, but Lauren made me feel better and did everything she could to make sure I would not feel like that again.

Besides this she is just a good nurse, a sweet person, and she brought joy to my stay. I was feeling a little down because I wanted to go home, but she made me aware of the fact I needed to not rush but get well for myself and my family. She explained to me clearly every question I asked, and she took very, very, good care of me. I couldn't have asked for a better nurse.

Having her as a nurse made my stay a happy one. I would like to nominate Lauren as being one of the sweetest, and caring nurses I had during my 6 days 5 night stay here at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. Lauren showed me that she really, genuinely care about her patients.

Two thumbs way up for Lauren who has my stay a wonderful one. It's a lot easier to heal when you know that there is someone who cares, especially when you are not around your own family during your stay at a hospital. Thank You Lauren for being so nice to me.

Nominated by: Ms. Stanley-Lee

I would like to echo this patient’s thoughts. Lauren is one of our newer grads but I think this speaks volumes of the type of people we are hiring @ SJMO. This shows that we do not just take "anyone" to fill a hole. Lauren from day one has shown great professionalism for a young woman. She has grown in her first year to represent our unit and hospital in only the best lights. She has dedicated herself to learning and growing in her chosen field. Currently she returned to school to obtain an advance degree in nursing. Nursing future is very bright with the likes of Lauren Kauffman representing our profession.

Sincerely, Sue Imbier
