Last Friday, I had a patient that was very ill and had been having respiratory problems throughout the day. As the day progressed, the patient became worse; especially after I got back from taking her for a test. I updated the physician that the patient's respiratory rate was increasing and O2 saturation decreasing; it was decided the patient would need to be intubated. This occurred right at the time of report to the oncoming nurses. It is sometimes difficult to get help during this time.
I had help from 2 people, one gathered supplies and Lauren Dean helped with the intubation. She stayed longer and helped the physician place a central line. She also helped with the family and anything that needed to be done in the room.
Lauren went way above and beyond what I would have expected. She was not only my angel; she was also an angel for the patient, family, and doctor. It is because of working with these type of awesome team players that keeps me here. Thank you so much, Lauren, for what you did. You are a true blessing to work with and always have such an awesome attitude.
