I admitted a patient to Labor and Delivery for induction of labor at 42.2 weeks. Patient was planning for home birth but had to change her plans because she did not go to labor. These types of patients are usually very hard to work with because they come to hospital with a tall order of how they want everything done. What they agree to usually there is a power struggle between the RN and patient. It is also hard to care for these individuals physically.
Lauren supported my patient throughout her labor. There was no power struggle. Both patient and RN were very receptive to each other. This was due to the level of caring, support, compassion, knowledge, and commitment Lauren offered.
Lauren was on her knees supporting the patient. She never gave the patient a hard time because it was hard on her physically. She communicated well. I was very impressed!
Lauren has established herself as a compassionate, caring, and highly skilled labor nurse. She recently completed her BSN and also stepped into the Relief Charge Nurse role. She exemplifies professionalism, caring, and truly understands what it means to be a patient advocate. Lauren has received numerous compliments and thanks from her patients, families, and co-workers since she joined our team.
