We came in to Baylor Scott & White Round Rock at 40 weeks plus 4 days pregnant. We had been having light/medium contractions for several hours, and we were evaluated in Labor & Delivery Triage by Laura. Laura was patient and kind, explaining every step of each test and procedure, even though it culminated in other than we wanted to hear when the doctor sent us home.

Several hours later at around 0230 hours on, the contractions were much stronger and we called ahead that we were coming back in. Laura had a room all set up for us, and she bypassed triage. J was in noticeable pain and I was a constant barrage of questions, but Laura handled it all through good communication and professionalism in addition to her required duties. We didn't know it at the time, but J is precipitous and progressed from A6 to A10 to birth in a matter of minutes. The OB was in surgery, the only anesthesiologist was with him and due to J's condition our baby was not waiting. Laura had called in one other nurse (Christine) to help her prior to pulling the emergency cord upon realizing birth was underway. Laura delivered our baby, stepping outside of her role in a seamless transition while still remaining the consummate professional.

Our 10lb, 12oz baby boy was in great hands and we could not have been treated better. I overheard Christine ask Laura later what made her reserve a room over triage again to assess and Laura said she "just knew". This type of foresight is indicative of rising stars, and shows a mature understanding of one's craft. Further, even though J delivered a large baby with no medication, she had no clotting or complications after the fact. Laura was very good about explaining the process of massaging J's stomach to prevent clotting, and she was as aggressive as was necessary. Due to Laura's experience and knowledge, J was symptom and problem free after delivery and immediately ambulatory.

We owe the successful birth of our son, recovery of my wife and superb experience with Baylor Scott & White to Laura Clausnitzer. Thank you Laura for all that you have done for us.
