I was admitted on a late morning in March. I had just had 2 surgeries, one 10 days prior and the current procedure. Once getting to my room on 2B, I was met by a cheerful, energetic, competent and motivated nurse named Larissa. I was unhappy about being in the hospital and the idea of being here for several days. Larissa's positive attitude and upbeat personality helped pull me from the lows. Over the next 7 hours or so she did everything any patient could have asked. Larissa returned the next morning. She picked up right where she left off; continuing with her prompt care, going above and beyond any requests I made, and making my experience as comfortable as it could be.
For the next few days, she was not my direct care provider but that didn't change things. We would see each other in the hall on my walks. She was always smiling, asking how things were going, and if I needed anything. Her care for me, and I am sure her other patients, extends beyond that of direct care provider role. It also extended to my family. She was always asking if she could help them in any way, again, going above and beyond what I believe to be her normal scope of duty.
I am very grateful for Larissa and the care and compassion she had provided me and my family during my stay on 2B. Larissa is a special employee, nurse, and more importantly, person. Her expertise, professionalism, knowledge, care, and compassion were above my expectations.
