If you were to ask anyone who knows Lana the first thought that comes to them when they think of her, they would unanimously say "She always has a smile on her face." Whether she is in charge or caring for a critically patient she has a pleasant, welcoming smile to offer all who come in contact with her. I say this because this is not only one of her trademarks, but because it is her gift. Lana has a tremendous talent for bringing a positive attitude to the workplace and her teammates. What does Lana actually do on 2N PACU? The answer is Pretty Much Everything! She is often the Triage RN for the day shift. She works hard and very creatively to assign all patients who need care in the PACU. This becomes very difficult when beds are scarce, patients are plentiful and acuities are high. Lana is an active member of the Quality Committee, she developed/implemented the Bladder Bundle to address post op urinary retention. This project was presented at National Conference for Perianesthesia Nurses as a poster project and won first place in the 2012 Nurses Week Poster Competition.
Lana is an amazing nurse who can provide excellent, skilled care for any patient that presents to the PACU.
