The DAISY Award was presented to Lam-Anh Goehring by Marie Duffy, RN, CNE; Barbara Doyle, CEO; Dr. Donald Brideau, VP of Medical Affairs; and Patient Care Director, Kathryn Byerly.

The colleague who nominated Lam-Anh states that Lam-Anh is a certified gastroenterology nurse and is an RN4. Lam-Anh consistently delivers the highest quality care to each of her patients and does so with compassion. She has developed and nourished the ECT program at IMVH and in doing so, has learned to serve and appreciate an underserved and frequently misunderstood patient population. She is the first person most of our ECT patients meet and she spends much time just talking with them and getting to know them as she educates regarding ECT procedures. Lam-Anh spends much of this intake time answering the many questions these patients and families have, giving encouragement and allaying fears. She will frequently call to check on these patients between procedures, quickly relaying needed information to the treatment.

Lam-Anh is the ultimate role model to those who work with her. Remarkably efficient, practical, quick to pick up on potential problem, and intuitive, she is the nurse anyone would choose to take care of themselves or their family. She will always put herself out there as a patient advocate, even when this is an unpopular stance. By her observations and communications with treating physicians, Lam-Anh has brought about change to the course of an ECT patients’ treatment plan resulting in a safe and therapeutic course of therapy. Lam-Anh goes the extra mile for each of her patients, but her dedication to educating patients, families, staff, and her genuine caring attitude for the ECT patient has been an inspiration to those who work with her.
