Ms. Eden is a passionate pediatric nurse practitioner who has dedicated her professional career to improving the health of children. After learning about the state's high childhood vaccine exemption rates, Ms. Eden spearheaded two legislative initiatives and a grassroots campaign to require mandatory vaccine education for patients who exempt their children from receiving vaccines. The first legislative attempt unfortunately failed, but the second bill passed. Ms. Eden convened an interprofessional network of support groups and individuals such as the media, legislators, health departments, nursing, pharmacy, and medical association to pass the legislation. She increased the number of coalitions focused on immunizations from two to five to improve vaccine rates. Ms.Eden also has partnered with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program to create an education module for parents on whooping cough (pertussis).
