In 2011 G came in with an obstruction caused by his colon and stomach cancer. He had to have two surgeries during his 21 day stay. During this time Kristin, Heidi, and Jen were some of his nurses. All excellent nurses who put up with him; G can sometimes be a handful to say the least. Kristin always convinced him into doing things that he didn't want to do. One day she asked him where he liked to shop and he said Wal-Mart. So in order to get him up and walking at the side of the bed she told him they were taking a walk to Wal-Mart. All the while he walked by the side of the bed, she would talk to him about what he was going to buy when he got there, completely taking his mind off of what he was doing.

Last December G had again come into the hospital with a bowel obstruction and though Kristin was not his nurse, she would stop to visit with him.

Now he was here for a hernia surgery which was supposed to be only overnight but turned out to be 6 days. During this time a lot of the nurses that have taken care of G came to say Hi and see how he was doing. Kristin again came to his room to talk and joke with him. The walk to Wal-Mart was brought up then too.

Even when I see Kristin and G isn't with me she always asks how he is doing. This is the kind of nurse that makes us want to come back to Holy Family Memorial Hospital.
