I could tell she really loves what she does. From the moment we got to the room she was very attentive and wanting to ensure we were comfortable. She was extremely attentive, anticipated change, and had excellent foresight. For a mom who was breastfeeding, she made me most comfortable; we arrived to the unit at around 8 pm and were exhausted. Although I was not the patient she made it a priority to make sure I had my needs met. I can be a very stressed out individual due to my timid nature. For her to gauge what I needed without me asking eased my anxiety. All I could say was thank you every time. After being almost 12 hours without food to support my daughter, my milk production was a bit hindered. She went out of her way to get me nourishments/fluids to help, I had supplies, numbers, and confidence that she was dependable. I don't believe in 2-hour rounding because for the many times I have been in a hospital I have yet to witness it being done, but for Kristi, it was clockwork and genuine, almost as if we were on her mind the entire shift because she read my mind in terms of my needs throughout the night.
My daughter was having severe pain and we were unsure if it was incision related or gas. The initial nurse really did not provide clarity or insight. However, when Kristi came, she assessed appropriately by talking to my daughter in a language she could understand, asking her a variety of open-ended questions. She was able to tell it was most likely gas pain but before actually listening to our request and starting off with meds. As Kristi suspected, the medication for pain had no effect and she told us to walk around and move. After her suggestion, we did and my daughter immediately felt relief. She also contacted the provider for an order for a different medication. Kristi is amazing and did I mention she's 4 months pregnant and kept up with us all through the night!
