My husband was hospitalized due to bicycle accident with a broken clavicle and 5 broken ribs. We had struggled to get the right combination of care to allow him to get up. We finally came up with a solution with the pain management specialist. I was with my husband 24 hours a day and each member saw him a portion of the time and had different pictures of what was going on. I asked Kris if we could work together cooperatively and collaboratively as a team. She was positive and quickly agreed to thoughtfully listen to my concerns and ideas about what he might need to get better. She helped me get him oatmeal and found a recliner for him to sit in. When OT/PT came in to get him up, Kris had the recliner right there, truly a gift from God. My husband could get up and down and sit up more comfortably throughout the day. This was the break we needed! He loved the recliner so much he chose to sleep in it and said he had the best sleep since he had arrived.
He asked for a better sling and the OT said there are others that can be purchased online. Kris offered to try to order the sling for him and a few hours later someone came in with a better one. Kris was positive throughout her shift with us, encouraging my husband and joking with him. She took a can-do attitude and treated each problem as a solution waiting to be solved and took extra time to solve them. Kris was focused on meeting our needs in a timely manner, listened patiently, showed compassion and was positive and encouraging, providing care for both his body and his spirit. She is the best and we are so thankful to have been blessed with her care.
