Dear Kris,

I am writing on behalf of my father who passed away on Tuesday, October 1st. Dad had been battling congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and from pain from advanced diabetes since early 2013. Since March he had been in and out of the hospital about ten times, and he received a lot of great care from dedicated doctors and nurses. One person stood out, and that was you. You stayed and talked with him the night before he was transferred to the hospice center, and you made him a doll, "Sweet Pea," that was with him when he died. My dad always watched out for his family and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. Toward the end he left us a list of things to do, instructions for his memorial service, and even wrote his own obituary. Even after he was gone, he was helping to make his passing easier. Included in that list was a request to thank you for all you did for him. Through this ordeal we've met a lot of great people, and are convinced that there truly are angels on earth. You are one of those angels. You were there for him at the end and you helped make his passing easier. On behalf of my entire family, I thank you for all you did and for being an angel for my dad.

Sincerely, AWC

This letter speaks volumes to the care and compassion Kris shows to her patients on a daily basis. I remember the last day this patient was in the hospital prior to going home under the care of hospice. Kris was his nurse that day, as she had been many times before during his illness. She appeared visibly upset and when I asked if she was okay she began to tear up. She told me that hospice had been consulted for Mr. W. She proceeded to tell me about what a kind man Mr. W is and how he has really made an impression on her. She spoke of his kind heart and compassion with tears in her eyes. As you can tell from the kind letter sent by Mr. W's daughter, Kris made quite an impression on Mr. W as well. Kris has a heart of compassion and service to others. She puts others before herself (patients, peers, etc.) and always looks for ways to lift others up. I am very proud of her and the care she provides to our patients.
