Kisha is an advocate and will not let anything come in the way of providing extraordinary care for our patients. She creates an environment of compassion.
Kind, gentle, compassionate, caring, smart, eager, supportive, honest, loving, and powerful are words that I would use to describe Kisha as a nurse. Each of these qualities are exhibited in her daily work as a nurse. When I think of why The DAISY Award was created, what it stands for and the deep and touching meaning behind it, I think of nurses like Kisha. I have seen many times when Kisha walks on the floor at change of shift realizing it's a hot mess and she says "Girl, we've got this", calm as a cucumber, she takes charge report and gets to work. Instead of spending time complaining about the situation she gets right to fixing the issues. Kisha is an outstanding leader, when she is in charge you know that the staff is supported, often before they realize they need help, she's gowned up and ready to go, never waiting to be asked. Kisha fosters team spirit. Kisha is an advocate and will not let anything come in the way of providing extraordinary care for our patients. She creates an environment of compassion. Kisha knows just how to partner with families understanding their unique needs and preferences, so these families feel heard. She then takes this information and shares it with the team, helping to create Family-Centered Care. Kisha gives a level of care and compassion to every patient as if they were part of her family. Kisha is an exemplary nurse who inspires those of us fortunate enough to work alongside her.
