Ashley Ingram made the following nomination for Kimberly Sizemore and Cindy followed with a nomination for Ashley stating she went above and beyond offering her support and sharing her knowledge with the MSICU staff. This is a wonderful example of teamwork and collaboration between nurses!

Last week, I was asked to come over and help a young patient that had been admitted to our CCU 5 days after her delivery at MACH. She was interested in hearing more about breastfeeding and she needed help with her engorged breast. While evaluating the patient and establishing a plan for her, I had the great pleasure of working with her nurse Kimberly.

This is where the WOW started. Kimberly was amazing with this new mother. She (the patient) had many questions, concerns, and she was obviously very anxious about everything that was going on with her heart. Kimberly was attentive and compassionate. She took the time to answer her questions and helped to calm her fears by building up Dr. Darrah and his ability as a physician to help her. When the questions and teaching began about her Postpartum care, Kimberly actively listen so that she too could learn about what she might do to make this patients care centered around her specific needs. We talk about this type of care and staff everyday but I got the opportunity to witness it personally for this patient. She even worked outside the box to allow her infant to visit with her. She truly understood that having time with her baby would help her physical recovery as much as anything we could do for her medically!

Kimberly is definitely top of the class.
