As a Hospice nurse, Kim touches the lives of many at a very difficult time in their lives. One patient in particular who was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer had special needs, with the mentality of a 12 year old. Kim's special ways with children allowed her to communicate effectively with her and make her feel secure with everything going on with her illness. When her pain was out of control, Kim would stay with her to comfort her and get her to an acceptable place with her pain. Kim even arranged a field trip with the patient and her caregiver so that she could go to a movie that she was desperate to see. The patient passed away with Kim at her bedside. Her caregiver could not have made it through the ordeal without Kim. She was legally blind and was completely distraught at losing her niece. She had lost her sister from the same disease.

Very few possess the gifts that Kim does.
