What a loving, caring nurse, who was always there for me. When I was admitted to 6 main, I had a bowel blockage. I had this before, but this time, I needed surgery. Kimmie came on that night. I was so sick and continuously throwing up. I didn't want anyone putting a tube down my nose. So, I just kept throwing up. Kimmie was always by my side, but there was nothing she could do to stop me from throwing up.
She came and said, "I can put the tube in for you. I will be gentle." I still hesitated. Sometime during the night, she walked in. I was so sick, I couldn't take it anymore. I said "Kimmie, let's do it!". So, she and her assistant got everything together, and we did it.
Kimmie is one of the best nurses I ever knew. She was not scheduled to work the next night, but she told me she was going to try to come in and take care of me.
Guess what? She did just that. That evening she peeked her head in my room and said "Hi beautiful; I'm back". What a wonderful feeling to know someone cares other than your family when you are sick. Most of my stay I had Kimmie. One night she was at some kind of gathering that WellSpan had; after it was over, in my room, standing in my door was Kimmie, all dressed up, in a long gown, hair done. She was beautiful. She said, "I just had to come to see how you were doing before I went home".
God love her. I am sure this is how she treats all her patients. I will never forget Kimmie. She deserves the DAISY Award. I don't know how to thank this girl. She is my hero.
