Kim works in the Women Infant Services Department as a post partum RN. Kim was nominated by an adoptive couple who were picking up their new baby girl. Due to complications with the pregnancy there was an extended stay for both the adoptive family as well as the birth parents. The family wrote out a two page nomination for Kim. This family stated that Kim's actions and behaviors demonstrated the "gold" standard of care. Kim assisted the new family with their needs while being sensitive to the emotional situation for both the birth parents and the adoptive parents.

The adoptive family stated, "it was amazing to me to watch her be so patient centered and caring." This family went on to say that Kim had reinstilled their faith in nurses and other nurses, that care for them, in the future will have to meet the standards of care that Kim set. "Her courage to be able to deal with such touchy human events that cover the full spectrum of emotions is awe inspiring. The DAISY Foundation intended this award for nurses just like her, as she too has made an extraordinary difference in our lives, and I'm sure all those she attends and assists."
