I wish to brag on the Unit 3 staff and leadership. Today, Dr. Hicks recognized a possible Code Stemi on a patient admitted to Unit 3. The ER was notified properly and all the staff responded promptly, managed the care of the patient, and transported the patient to the Glenwood ER within 28 minutes.
Dr. Hicks with his timeliness and professionalism assured that this patient received proper care. He followed up with the nursing staff to offer an update and to praise their efforts. The entire ER Team was efficient and managed the event well. The patient’s daughter commented on how rapid all of the medical staff responded.
Unit 3 managed a Code Stemi seamlessly- even though they are not a Level 1 Cardiac Unit. They knew the process and did not hesitate to deliver excellent and timely care. I would like to recognize Kim Golden, Unit 3’s Nurse Manager. The daughter of this patient was left at the Hixson campus without transportation. Kim drove the daughter across town to Memorial Glenwood herself and offered her contact information in case she had any further needs. The daughter was most appreciative and called back to later to inform Unit 3 that her father had received 4 stents but was doing well. Although I was not present on campus, as soon as I stepped onto Unit 3 this afternoon, everyone was excited and discussing the great teamwork and outcome related to this event. We have an awesome team!
