I have witnessed on many occasions of Khristina's passion toward family-centered care even during the toughest times. On several occasions I have witnessed her sit down with patients and just talk with them especially when they really have no idea what is going on, she will just ask them about their personal lives and express courtesy and kindness during her care.

One particular instance, a patient who was here for pneumonia and reluctantly went into withdrawals of alcohol and coming from a very professional background, found during this time he did not really know what was going on, with withdrawal symptoms of aggression, Khristina took it all in stride, she sat down next to him and was able to get him to refocus on his music background ultimately changing his behavior and she continued this for hours during her shift.

Another instance was a patient very sick on the unit had a request to get married to his significant other of 11 years. Khristina was ecstatic and honored that she was the one who got to plan the first wedding at the hospital, and she began the wedding plans. She called the chaplain of the hospital to ensure it could happen; she arranged flowers from the volunteers and she got nutrition services to put together a wedding cake. The ceremony was held the same day, all with Khristina's extraordinary compassionate care, the couple was pronounced husband and wife.

Khristina does this on a daily basis no matter what her patient assignment is, it is like watching a ballet with smoothness and twirling all while on her tip toes. She shows the utmost courtesy and kindness, and compassionate care that I have witnessed in my years of nursing and for this I nominate her as an extraordinary nurse for the DAISY award.
