When I became a nurse, my goal was to "make everybody feel like a somebody" when I met Kevin, I just knew I had found the perfect role model for this motto. Kevin doesn't just make sure patients feel important, respected and valued, but Kevin makes all people he encounters feel this way. Kevin faces adversity every day but you could never tell due to the continual smile on his face and his warm embrace. Kevin has done such incredible things during my time here, he is a true DAISY Nurse. I have seen Kevin dance and sing with a crying and scared pediatric patient and I have seen him comfort families who are the victims of the biggest loss of all their loved one's life. Kevin knows the name of each employee he encounters at Colquitt Regional and asks how they are doing and genuinely wants to hear the answer. I have seen Kevin take embarrassing situations for a patient, like a patient soiling themselves and somehow still finds a way for that patient to smile and not feel alone. Kevin brings light wherever he goes, a warm hug, and laughs (even if he is laughing at his own jokes!) and he is one of the only people I know who will remember to ask you about your great uncle's cats' litter the next time he sees you just because you mentioned it the last time you were nervous and waiting to see a provider in the ED. Each day I clock in and know Kevin will be clocking in too, I know that I am not alone and will always have someone to back me up and I know patients can sense that dedication, cheer, and positivity which truly contributes to an amazing experience at Colquitt Regional.

I can't describe a single situation that we have had with Kevin because over the last few months we have had multiple encounters with him. I have been a patient several times as well as my mother-in-law. I can tell you that EVERY SINGLE TIME he is the most compassionate, professional gentleman who gives the BEST CARE a person could give. He is consistent in his care for his patients. One night we had been there for a while waiting for our mother-in-law to be admitted and he came out to the waiting area and asked if we needed anything or if he could do anything for us because he knew we had been there for a while. WOW! You do not know how important it is to just acknowledge people sometimes but he sure does. He gets it, he is for sure a top-notch nurse.

Kevin was not our nurse during my mother-in-law's stay in the ER. However, I overheard him talking with other patients. His compassionate care and heart were awesome! So much care! I did tell him that if I ever had to go to the ER, I hoped he was there! You know and feel everything is going to be ok just because of him.

Kevin continues to speak encouraging words to those around him. The ER can be a stressful work environment and Kevin tries to help us through with kindness, prayers, and positivity. Today, I had a stressful situation involving a patient. It really discouraged me, Kevin was unaware yet still helped! In front of another patient, Kevin MANAGED UP and spoke kindly about me to the patient. It was super helpful and super encouraging!
