Keri is always very compassionate and caring with all of her patients and her family members. She goes out of her way to make a connection and to make patients and families feel comfortable and cared for.
For example, tonight I received a patient from Keri, a woman with newly discovered masses, possibly cancer. The patient and her husband were scared and worried. Keri asked if they had questions or concerns. The husband took Keri outside the room and stated that they wanted to ask her some questions in private. Keri knew that her roommate was being discharged soon, so waited until after she left to meet with the patient and her husband. Although Keri was done with her work and her shift was over, she met with them, sat with them, and addressed all of their questions and concerns. For Keri, this is just who she is. She doesn't see this as "going above and beyond" or as exceptional, this is how she is with all of her patients and family members.
Keri is an exceptionally caring and empathic nurse, and she is more than deserving of this award.
