Kentlee is one of our Clinical Leaders in PICU. She exudes all the qualities you would expect in a Clinical Leader. She is a strong and objective leader, remains calm and in control in any situation, and is self-sacrificing. One evening when I was in charge Kentlee had already been there for her 3p to 11p shift, as I came on that night Kentlee had chosen to take a patient assignment, which she does on many occasions when needed. Kentlee fiercely advocated for the family to be able to go through the withdrawal of care process as they wished it to be with the potential for the patient to become a donor.

The first tentative OR time was at 3am, Kentlee without a second thought said she was staying with the patient until they made it to the OR. In the end, 3am turned into 4:30am, which then turned into the patient needing to return to PICU, unable to become a donor. It was because of Kentlee in conjunction with other ACH Staff that the withdrawal of care happened as peacefully as possible in the pre-op area with the parents holding the patient and each other. All this made a very difficult moment become a truly sacred moment for the family.

Kentlee continually goes above and beyond for the patients and staff of PICU, in order to ensure the best care possible for the patients and families. She can often be found coming in early, staying late, picking up patient assignments, and always seeming to be exactly when and where she's needed. Kentlee exemplifies everything it means to be a leader in nursing.
