Kelly was the first nurse to greet us the first night of our daughter's emergency arrival to Neuroscience Critical Care. With a smile and a gentle spirit, Kelly put our minds at ease as we watched our 26-year-old daughter suffer from a stroke. We had just faced a stressful 24 hours of her flat-lining, unstable and now facing craniotomy. You can imagine our fear and disbelief. We were filled with questions. We needed reassurance and a compassionate ear.
The following night, Kelly and the doctor became our angel as our daughter came out of surgery. Diligently and relentlessly, they were at our daughter's side questioning her and trying to get a glimmer of hope that she was with us after the emergency surgery. That night was surreal and painful to watch as our daughter lay quiet. Tears of joy came when she mumbled her first word, opened her eyes, and slowly lifted her finger.
The road ahead is long but having caring, dedicated caretakers who never treated us like a bother has given us a sense of security. From the bottom of our hearts, as parents, we will feel forever grateful for her gifts she shared with us and in helping to shine a light on our daughter's life! We wish her great success and a bright future!
