I am a 30-year-old male that was given a new aortic valve and a second chance at life. After my initial hospital stay, I had an unexpected second stay in the 9T unit for 6 days. Kelly remembered me from my first stay in the 9T unit and was my nurse for several days during my second stay. She recognized that I was not very happy with being admitted for a second time and asked me several times, "What can I do to help cheer you up?"
Kelly made small talk, unrelated to my stay to help keep my mind off the challenges that I faced. She cheered me up with candy/treats that she had purchased with her own money on her lunch break. She was very professional with the care that she provided but maintained a friendly demeanor to help make my stay seem less "hospital" like. Kelly is very knowledgeable and answered many of the questions I had regarding procedures. When she did not know an answer, she was humble enough to say so and was quick to find someone who could answer my question.
Kelly is clearly a very caring and compassionate human being that can demonstrate these selfless qualities on a daily basis through her profession.
