Kelly is not only aware of the complexity of my father-in-law's condition, but is able to communicate this knowledge to our family, make us aware of how we can participate most effectively and what outcomes we could logically expect in the course of the day. In a practical sense, Kelly represents the ever-present concern of the various doctors treating my father-in-law. Her ability to make immediate, simple and clear a single unified understanding of my father-in-law's overall progress and daily treatment is extremely valuable to us. In a practical sense no single specialist can be in a position to perform that task - and so we applaud Kelly for doing so.

Kelly is hands on in carrying out the doctor's orders. She is on her toes, realizing the minute by minute goals and using her smarts to implement the best compromise (not to mention keeping us aware of the process). Moreover, she is tenacious and repeatedly successful in her pursuits.

But what puts Kelly over the top for the DAISY Award is her attitude. She is positively energized by her work. Her joy becomes our joy and how valuable that is - to lift up our spirits in a time of crises. So not only is she offering knowledge of the situation and hands on help and smarts to move forward, but also, emotional comfort and inspiration.
