I'd like to say that I wish I could pick a whole basket of daisies as all of the UCLA nursing staff of the 8th floor deserves honors and awards! But the one that stood out above all the rest for me was Kelly. Our relationship had begun on a previous hospital stay where when walking in the hall I had mentioned to her how afraid I was of "ICU" as all my stays in the dept. (other hosp.) had been bad! She questioned me more to find what I was afraid of the most (breathing machines) and then explained their function and use. She answered all my questions and eased my mind, making this scary place into a place of new life! Now I left the hospital not so scared and more prepared for the next step of the journey. No promises who my nurses would be, but to my surprise Kelly was my nurse directly after surgery. So as I awoke she was able to explain and even allowed me to touch the things that had scared me so bad previously. She was also answering the questions of my 3 adult children and we as a family felt Kelly not only took care of me, my needs, as well as those of my family. She is very special and she made me feel special too! She took time as she walked with me in the halls to answer questions and concerns. I feel that the reason my recovery and attitude were so good is due to Kelly directly. I'm very grateful to have had Kelly as my nurse. She will always be the daisy of my heart!
