I was a patient on 2KS with Legionnaire's pneumonia and respiratory failure. I was sedated and intubated while Kelly was my nurse during the weekend. The entire unit of 2KS was wonderful in caring for me-- from technical partners to the nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, and director-- but my husband especially could not stop talking about how wonderful of a nurse Kelly was. She went out of her way explaining my illness to my husband and my family. She reviewed my plan of care, my medications, x-rays, labs, and even ventilator settings. She put my husband's nerves at ease, reassuring him of my care. She also took the time to braid my hair and make me look like a human being. Even when she was not my nurse, she was calling to see how I was doing; even on her days off! When I was awake and extubated, she came in to introduce herself and check my status. I really appreciate all the care she provided to me and to my family during this difficult time.
