I am nominating Katina for the DAISY award stemming from an experience I witness while we were doing a West Michigan Food Bank Gleaner’s truck in Lakewood Club. A young mother was there with her young daughter. The weater was very cold and this baby had only a Spring jacket on. The mother had layered clothing on the baby but she still looked very cold. Katina had bagged up some of her dauighter’s outgrown clothing to pass onto a friend of hers, however, when Katina saw this little girl, she went to her car and got these bags of clothing giving them to the young mother and her daughter. Katina told her there was a winter coat in the bottom of the bag. The mother immediately opened the bag and put the coat on her daughter. There was also socks and a hat and mittens that she put on her daughter. She then brought the little girl over and handed her to Katina. Katina overlooked her friend while who she was going to give the clothing to and give it to a mother and child in need. The smiles on this young mother’s face along with the smiling face of this baby girl brought tears to my eyes, as well as to other members of the Professional Nursing Practice Council who witnessed this.
