Katie joined our Clinical Informaticist team 2 years ago. Katie came to us from a wound care clinic where she continues to work PRN and has worked in other specialty areas such as Neuro Trauma ICU. In this short time with our team, she has worked diligently with our client on many heavy impact projects where her diverse clinical experience has certainly added value in achieving project goals. Immediately upon hire she jumped right in and optimized our inpatient wound care documentation. Following that, she was able to optimize our Lines/Tubes/Drains documentation and reporting which allowed for financial, clinical and workflow improvements. The results of the Lines/Tubes/Drains project are estimated to be over $750,000 in increased reimbursement and ultimately improved patient outcomes. Katie also assisted in our Care Aware/Nursing Connect project that was implemented system-wide, spanning 5 hospitals and approximately 650 beds.
Last year, Katie led a project with our safety and reporting system that completely transformed the systems functionality. Her work led to a completely new build to fully optimize the system, decrease complexity, and increase accuracy. This build was recognized by the vendor and designated our client as one of the first to take on this effort, also designating them as a vendor recommended client. As a result, the vendor requested our client present at their next national conference. Katie was instrumental in the team achieving this level of success.
Most recently she continues exceeding expectations through her valiant ability to lead our FirstNet project working with our 4 emergency departments and multiple urgent cares to design and integrate the solution. She has engaged and collaborated with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, administration, Cerner associates, and many others to identify current state, future state and the best plan in achieving the path through this process. She's had to juggle between multiple domains to keep everything in sync for training, testing, and preparation for the go-live later this year.
Our clinicians value Katie's knowledge, attention to detail, and compassionate approach. She has demonstrated innovation in identifying resolution for many obstacles and embodies the characteristics of a true DAISY Nurse.
