I was in the hospital anxiously awaiting the arrival of my daughter. I had already been in labor and delivery for 24 hours waiting and trying different methods to induce labor. In the late afternoon my nurse Katie, noticed that every time I had a contraction my baby's heart rate would drop. Katie put oxygen on me to try to help the situation, it helped slightly. Katie took precautions and called the doctor anyway. Katie could have just waited to see what happened. But she didn't. By Katie calling the doctor and taking initiative, precautionary steps, and using her knowledge, my daughter was born happy and healthy via cesarean.
Katie saved my daughter's life! I will be forever grateful for Katie Bischoff! Finally, the doctor told me when I was contracting the umbilical cord was pinched and cutting off the oxygen to my daughter. If I would have kept contracting my daughter would not have made it.
