J had surgery with Dr. S at United. J had an excellent experience in 2600 for his post-op care. On the day of discharge, we were very scared to be going home with a catheter and a complex wound to care for.
We had an angel of a nurse in Kathy Thompson. She came into the room that morning of discharge and we were not sure what to expect as she was very focused on making sure she was meeting J's needs. When it came closer to us going home, she came in and sat down with us. She explained these two challenging tasks with ease and grace. She made it so simple for us to understand and supported us with our questions. She also reviewed with us what to do in case we ran into complications. She took so much time with us and never made us feel rushed.
Kathy did not realize our journey through our different experiences in healthcare. J had had a stroke once in Mexico, and I had battled with cancer myself. We can honestly say that this was one of the absolute best experiences we have ever encountered. We are forever grateful for her kindness, understanding, and compassion. She went above and beyond to make sure that we were completely successful at home.
