Ms. Corbell called my husband to tell him a new machine was going to be coming and how to deal with the switchover. During the conversation, she asked how he had been doing and was there anything she could do to help him. My husband told her his pacemaker was shocking him and it caused him to pass out. She asked if he contacted his team and he said, "yes they have placed a consult for cardiology". Ms. Corbell asked the Veteran if she could arrange it to expedite. He agreed and two hours later a call with an appointment for a cardiology consult was arranged. I went with him to the appointment and he was set up for a heart cath two days later. He was having multiple runs of V-Tach and needed an evaluation immediately. I believe Ms. Corbell saved my husband's life.
This is not the end of the story. I called Ms. Corbell on Friday asking if she could help me get a voucher for medications that were called to outside pharmacy. Once again, she was helpful. She called me back and expedited a medication he needed to be overnighted UPS. She again helped us and saved us $200! She gave others the glory of doing this, but it was her. While my husband was in ICU she called and checked on both of us. She called the pharmacy and made arrangements for our outside medications. I have dealt with the VA for many years and if it were not for Ms. Corbell, my husband would not be here today.
