Kathryn went above and beyond the call of duty when taking care of her patient and their family member last week in the MICU. She was taking care of a patient who was on the way to the airport leaving for Las Vegas to get married, when his car was T-boned and he was severely injured. Kat felt the urge to do something special for this couple, and so took it upon herself to organize a small bridal shower in the hospital room. She purchased small gifts for each of them, had a congratulatory cake made, balloons, sparkling cider, and a card that was signed by each of the nurses on the unit that day. She even arranged for the song "Going to the Chapel" to be played upon entering the room. There was not a dry eye in the room when we presented the couple the gifts. The patient and his fiancé were extremely grateful and touched by this gesture, along with the rest of their family.
