Kathryn has worked in oncology for about 10 years. After 8 years working inpatient oncology, she joined CHO East Portland in March 2014. Her manager said the following about Kaytee:

"Kaytee is a rock star charge nurse and takes pride and ownership of her job to help both the clinic and infusion room stay on task. Patients adore her and have stated that they feel safe when Kaytee is caring for them. She has a can do attitude and truly has a big picture perspective. She has wonderful communication skills. She provides constructive feedback, not only to her peers and co-workers, but to management as well. From my perspective this is completely appreciated as it helps to drive key decisions and helps me grow as a leader."

Kathryn's nominator had this to say about how she is deserving of this award:

"Kaytee is our Charge RN at East Portland Hematology Oncology. Kaytee exemplifies the OHSU Nursing Vision - 'Be the leader for professional nurses, recognized for innovation, compassion and excellence in patient care.' She is mentor for all our nurses, keeps our clinic running efficiently by actively participating in OPEx initiatives while at the same time delivering compassionate care to our patients. Today a family member of one of our patients called to let us know that he had been hospitalized. The patient's last request was for Kaytee to come down to the hospital to visit him and to bring him a packet of the chicken broth that she would give him in our clinic. This is such a moving example of how important our care team is in the lives of our patients. Kaytee made such a difference in this person's life and in the lives of all our patients. She deserves to be recognized for her excellent care. We are so lucky to have her."
