Kathleen has worked in the Family Centered Care department for the last 22 years. She is most often assigned to the admission nursery where her excellent clinical skills are utilized to the fullest capacity. Kathleen conducts extremely thorough assessments of the newborn and observes them closely as they transition to extrauterine life. She has picked up on many abnormalities, conditions, or subtle changes in the newborn's status, sometimes just based on instinct. She is the go-to person for new and seasoned nurses and is always willing to share her knowledge and mentor new staff. She has the ability to remain calm and focused, even during the busiest shifts where they get over 20 admissions. Kathleen is truly one of the unsung heroes of the department. She is an extraordinary nurse, both knowledgeable and compassionate. Kathleen is a true DAISY Nurse.
