Kathleen was my first nurse and I was blessed to have her! I was scared and didn't know what the future was. She was nice, compassionate, explained everything and comforted me when I cried. I wish I had her everyday. She was like a mom watching over and caring for me non-stop! Kathleen is not only smart, but also the VERY BEST!

...

Kathleen gives a new meaning to the word "team". She values and nurtures her team everyday by recognizing and supporting her peers. When she observes one of her peers doing a great job with a patient or family, she not only shares it with her team member, but with leadership as well. Many members of her night shift team are new to the ICU. When a nurse gets a new admit, Kathleen is quick to jump in and help to make sure the process goes smoothly. She also provides our team with education about different neurological disease processes. When she reads an article that may be helpful to other staff members, she shares information so others can benefit. Her "We can do this" attitude and supportive and mentoring approach has contributed to the cohesiveness of the NSIC team.

Her ability to nurture is also evident in the care of her own patients. She is able to assess a situation at the start of her shift and determine what each patient and family needs. Whether it is a listening ear, calming presence, education about a diagnosis or focus during a crisis, Kathleen is able to deliver! She is a true DAISY Nurse!
