I don't have one specific story about Katie but a lot of great memories. First off, I'm originally from out of state and I don't have any family out here in NJ. So, knowing I will have to go through chemo alone with no one next to me was a very scary thought especially when starting a new chemo medicine.
I met Katie during my second round of Taxol and was so nervous I was going to have an allergic reaction, but Katie helped ease my nerves. After my second round, I made sure I requested Katie as my chemo nurse whenever she was working. I knew when I had chemo alone and Katie was there, she had my back if anything happened. She made me feel like I was just hanging out with one of my friends and just talking about life when I was receiving my premeds and chemo. She was always there to answer all my crazy questions.
Katie shows true attributes of a nurse. Her communication is amazing. She would explain step-by-step to me what is going on and which drug was administered. I am really going to miss Katie through the rest of my journey, but I know if I need anything, she will always have my back. Katie is truly an angel without wings but with a stethoscope instead.
