Through eight months of chemotherapy, plus a month of radiation and major surgery, Katie has been my nurse and my partner. She is remarkably skilled - accessing my port, taking blood, etc. without ever any pain or complication. And she is consistently efficient and professional, responding to every phone call and email, sending details of test results, arranging for prescriptions. But more than all this has been her understanding of the challenges I faced and her partnership with me in overcoming them. Every time we hooked up a new bag of chemo, for example, we took a moment together to send "positive energy" into the medicine. Perhaps most of all, Katie has appreciated my sensitivity to all the different health providers I have seen over my treatment and she went to her supervising physician to rearrange her schedule so she could care for me throughout my final cycles of treatment. She took my preferences seriously, which is so empowering for an outpatient who has been through what I've been through. The last eight months have been difficult enough --- without Katie at my side, they would have been almost impossible to endure.

Above all, she is thoughtful and pleasant to work with. She manages my program with exceptional initiative, thoughtfulness, precision, and knowledge. She is excellent at developing a personal relationship with a patient, projecting that she really cares about her patients. She is able to provide full technical explanations for what is involved in a treatment and why. In all this she established personal relationships easily, thereby projecting that she really cares about her patients.

Katie listens attentively and thoughtfully, and makes decisions decisively. She obviously has Dr. P's complete trust and confidence and she does all this with good cheer and a supportive demeanor.
