I would like to recognize Karla for the amazing impact she makes with the 'planning my trip to the hospital' children who come through PACU. For a child with a special behavior care plan, coming to the operating room can be extremely disruptive. Karla is open to working with these children and their families, even recovering the patients up in their own room on 8A. Karla comes in early to meet the child prior to their anesthetic and then accompanies them up their room and stays with them and their family until they are feeling back to their baseline. This is the kind of outstanding nursing care that sets SickKids apart from other hospitals. Karla is truly bridging the gap to make these special patients feel safe and comfortable with their care.
