I am continuously impressed by Kari's compassionate dedication and seamless reliability in her care to our patients. I have been working with Kari for approximately one year in the Neurosurgery Outpatient Clinic. While Kari holds many responsibilities, some of the most prominent responsibilities in her role as a Registered Nurse in the Neurosurgery Clinic include triaging patient complaints, providing support for the patients, and coordinating patient care. I consider myself privileged to work with Kari because I know that she goes "above and beyond" for our patients on a daily basis.
I have also recognized the level of caring that I believe Kari inherently applies to her professional practice. Recently, we had a patient who is medically challenging undergo a brain surgery. This is a patient who has suffered from medical problems their entire life, has multiple diagnoses and requires a lot of psychological support. Postoperatively, the patient's mother called our clinic nearly every weekday in need of support, medical advice, and general reassurance. Kari has been responsive in accurately triaging the patient's symptoms and providing much-needed reassurance, as she does with all of our patients. When I saw our patient and her mother in the clinic for a post-operative visit, our patient's mother said, 'I really enjoy talking to Kari and appreciate all of her help. She is wonderful. I have called your clinic numerous times because I am afraid of what is going on and especially concerned about the medication dosing. I never once detected a hint of annoyance or exhaustion in Kari's voice when talking to her.' I think that this is a perfect example of Kari's approach to her care of patients; she is outstandingly intelligent, patient, and most of all, compassionate.
