We had a patient on our unit the same day his wife was scheduled for a C-section in another hospital. While we all felt bittersweet about the day, Karen found a way to celebrate - even though the patient could not be with his wife. Karen went to the gift store and bought gifts for the baby boy. She organized the lullaby to be played over the intercom and she gathered a group of associates to go into the patient room and give our congratulations. Even though the baby was born at a different hospital, Karen went above and beyond to help him celebrate the birth of his son.
